About MusicUniverse
MusicUniverse is a music database and review platform. Think of it as an open, community-owned reference for recorded music: artists, albums and songs, each with its own page, discography, credits and community score.
How rankings work
Members rate albums, songs and artists from 1 to 10. Those votes are averaged into the MusicUniverse Score. There is no editorial input and no industry data — every ranking on the site is generated live from member ratings, so the boards change as people vote.
Where the data comes from
Catalog metadata is sourced from MusicBrainz, the open music encyclopedia, and enriched with cover art and 30-second previews from public provider feeds. Official national charts are pulled from public chart feeds and always credited on the charts page.
Developers
MusicUniverse exposes a public, read-only catalog API over MCP at /mcp. It is rate limited to 100 requests per hour per IP and never exposes accounts, ratings or any private data.
Intellectual Property
MusicUniverse is an independently developed music discovery, rating and community platform. The MusicUniverse name, logo, visual identity, original interface design, software, code, original written content and original platform features are proprietary intellectual property of MusicUniverse and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Third-party music, artwork, artist names, recordings, song titles, metadata and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners and rights holders.
